Why I no longer use a desktop email client

With options such as Google hosted apps, and Microsoft’s Office Live I can not see the point why people or a small business have the need for such. I honestly can’t remember when was the last time when I used a desktop email client like outlook or thunderbird. Today Kev’s blogged about google experimenting on labels, and when I got home, I saw the note below when I opened up my google hosted mail account. Continue to read more…

Giving credit when it’s due

I have recently re-discovered wordpress, it has evolved to such a massive marketing tool for small businesses like mine. It is versatile, FREE, powerful, FREE, easy to install and maintain, FREE, and did I mention FREE? Well, enough of the awesomeness of Wordpress, and let’s get back to my pet peeves, which is claiming something what’s not yours to be yours. Continue to read more…

Facebook photo share on Wordpress blog

Well last time I blogged about Fotobook, it was working OK in loading your shared albums, however it was loading 2 sets of it on Wordpress 2.8.1 beta 2, which I could not fix. QuickLaunch for BlackBerry 81XX

I registered and got accepted to beta test this application which I find to be excellent, especially for older BlackBerry owners. So far (10 minutes or so) I have not yet had any issues with it. Usually new applications that has been untested would give uncaught exception errors on our BlackBerry devices. This however hasn’t. I have taken some shots of the beast which you can find here. Watch your plugins!

In my learning process of Wordpress, I encountered a little problem that I need some expert help may be? I had installed a couple of plugins on two various sites of mine on the same shared box at dreamhost. The culprit are SEO Ultimate and All in One SEO. These two caused me huge lag and slowness with issues accessing the database and in turn had to turn them both off and uninstall them. Also found that the themes packaged by dreamhost also came with a ‘SEO october special’ theme that may also cause the slowness. Continue to read more…

One way of turning Wordpress into a business site

As you know, I am a NOOB, and am having a ball learning Wordpress. It is a powerful blogging engine, made by a blogger, for blogger. So I surfed around the web, to check out if there are any options on how to get rid of ‘comments are closed’ on pages you don’t want commented on, and turn your ‘blog’ site to a CMS business site. I am glad I found this Australian girl website which guided me on how to do it. Basically, as you can see on my business site, I have exactly done this and it works on pages and a single post. Now all I have to do is find a way to remove the post date! Note that these suggestions all assume you’ve already turned off commenting in your site by going into Settings > Discussion in your Admin panel and unchecking the “Allow people to post comments on the article” box:
